Prince Andrew faces critical week in sexual assault case in New York

Former girlfriend of late billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell, has filed a sexual assault case against Prince Andrew in New York.

Last week, socialite Maxwell was found guilty of sex trafficking kids for Epstein. She claims he sexually attacked her in 2001, when she was 17 and a minor under American law.

Andrew, 61, Queen Elizabeth II’s second son, has not been charged and has denied the charges.

A New York court will make public a 2009 settlement between Epstein and Giuffre. Andrew’s lawyers argue the deal shields him and others from Giuffre’s lawsuit.

They hope a judge will reject her lawsuit against the monarch.

Oral arguments on whether to dismiss the action are scheduled for Tuesday. 10 am (1500 GMT) hearing by video-conference.
