President Dr. Arif Alvi has urged for more facilitation of cross-border trade with adjacent countries in order to increase exports and offer employment opportunities for people living in or near Balochistan’s border areas.
Reports say he provided remarks while chairing a follow-up conference in Gwadar on border and trade management in Balochistan, which was broadcast on radio station Radio Pakistan.
The president requested that the authorities in charge completely equip the existing border stations by updating the road infrastructure, providing telecommunication facilities, and establishing banking channels at the border crossing locations, among other things.
He directed that the challenges that traders from Balochistan’s border areas were experiencing be rectified as soon as possible on a priority basis.
