The leader of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, remains in his hands over the issue of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), arguing that the PPP is not responsible for supremacy of PML-N Nawaz Sharif or his daughter Maryam Nawaz.
“We are not responsible to Maryam Nawaz or Mian Sahab. We are accountable to PPP and PPP workers and believe that the real joy is making policies with PPP workers, ”he said at a press conference in Badin. “My position remains unchanged,” he said when a reporter asked him about Mariam’s recent comments that the PPP did not respond to program messages sent to her.
The PPP chairman admitted to tearing up the message about the cause. He said that Shehbaz Sharif is the leader of the opposition in the National Assembly and President of PML-N, so the PPP would only consider his position and statements as official PML-N policy and carry out its policies accordingly.
He added that the PPP respects the chairman of Jamiat Ulama-i-Islam (JUI-F), Maulana Fazlur Rehman and that the two sides have “good relations and contacts”. “However, PPP is political by respecting its vision and principles and we are not changing our position,” he added. “Instead of opposing PPP, our friends in the opposition must turn to the government,” he added.
