Mini-Budget 2021:
Earlier this week, the federal government introduced Finance (Supplementary) Bill 2021, which is commonly referred to as a “mini-budget” in the Senate.
The finance measure was introduced by Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin in the midst of a raucous opposition demonstration.
The finance supplementary bill, also known as the mini-budget, which was already introduced in the National Assembly proposes amendments to the income tax, sales tax, and federal excise duty in order to impose taxation measures worth Rs375 billion and to withdraw the Rs343 billion sales tax exemption. The bill was already introduced in the National Assembly.
In the mini-budget, traders and businessmen have urged the government to repeal the 17 percent sales tax levied on mobile phones, which was enacted in 2012.
The Finance (Supplementary) Bill 2021 and the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Amendment Bill 2021 were introduced in the National Assembly last week by Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin.
