PML-N has rejected a letter from the National Operations and Command Center suggesting a two-month delay in elections in Azad Jammu and Kashmir due to COVID-19.
“What does the NCOC have to do with [the election]?” asked former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abasi in a media interview on Tuesday. He called the NCOC proposal a conspiracy to forge. “The same thing that happened in Gilgit-Baltistan is repeated in Azad Kashmir,” he said.
Shahid Khaqan Abasi questioned whether the NCOC postponement speech was constitutional. “Are there no elections in other parts of the country?” He asked.

He insisted that it was an attempt to “steal” the AJK election, referring to previous elections in Pakistan.
Let the elections be held according to the will of the people, said Abbasi, adding that the PML-N wanted the AJK election to be on time. “We reject the NCOC letter. It must be withdrawn,” he said.
The day before, the NCOC proposed delaying the AJK election for two months because the process would increase the number of coronavirus cases.

The NCOC wrote a letter to the head of the AJK election organizer saying that the election should be postponed due to the increasing number of coronavirus cases in the country.
The letter said that massive political demonstrations due to the election would continue to spread the potentially deadly virus in the country.
