PM Shehbaz Sharif restores NCOC after Covid-19 sub-variant emerges

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday ordered the reconstitution of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), an umbrella organization that was in charge of the country’s response to the coronavirus outbreak (Covid-19).

The prime minister, Shehbaz Sharif, has ordered the urgent reinstatement of the NCOC and has summoned the Ministry of National Health to submit a report on the pandemic situation in the country.

It was decided to take this action in light of the recent appearance in the country of a novel sub-variant of the Omicron strain of coronavirus.

The National Institute of Health (NIH) said in a statement on Monday that Pakistan had reported the country’s first instance of Omicron sub-variant BA.2.12.1, according to the National Institute of Health.

“The National Institutes of Health has identified the first case of Omicron subvariant BA.2.12.1. According to the World Health Organization, “this new sub-variant is causing an increase in the number of cases in different countries.”

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) recommended people take the best preventive measures possible to avoid catching the virus.

“We strongly advise getting vaccinated, and all those who are due for boosters must get the vaccinations as soon as possible,” the statement continued.

All tasks and responsibilities of the NCOC were transferred to the National Institute of Health (NIH) in Islamabad on March 31 of this year, effectively ending its operations.

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) was established in March 2020. Its mission is to collect, analyze, and process information in order to assist Pakistan in its fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
