PM Shehbaz Sharif has called a ruling partners meeting

Shehbaz Sharif has called a meeting of the parliamentary leaders of the ruling alliance, sources say.

Sources said that the conference would cover the bigger picture of politics in the country, since the government is facing many problems.

The summoning comes a day after the PM visited former president and PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari at PM House.

The statement stated both presidents discussed “the country’s political condition.”

Zardari asked about the prime minister’s health after he tested positive for coronavirus on November 15. He’d contracted the virus three times.

General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), will retire on November 29.

Inter-Services Public Relations, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, and the Information Minister acknowledged that the Prime Minister’s Office has received the appointment summary for COAS and the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff committee.

Six senior generals are reportedly among the army commander hopefuls.

As candidates, the summary names Lt Gens Asim Munir, Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Azhar Abbas, Nauman Mehmood, Faiz Hamid, and Mohammad Amir.

According to sources, before calling the current allies meetings, the prime minister began discussing them last week on critical positions, with the coalition partners fully demanding that the premier make the appointment in accordance with specified protocols and traditions.

Sources say PDM president Maulana Fazlur Rehman called the prime minister to discuss the country’s predicament and the new army chief.

According to reports, the maulana instructed Prime Minister Shehbaz to select the new army chief in accordance with procedure.

Sources say that the prime minister has the administrative and personal power to choose who will be in charge of the army.

PPP and JUI-F leaders gave PM Shehbaz permission to appoint the new army chief.
