PM Imran launches youth-focused digital media program

On Friday, PM Imran Khan launched the Digital Media Development Program (DMDP).

The Digital Media Development Program (DMDP) is a flagship initiative of the Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in conjunction with the UNDP (UNDP). In addition to growing the Pakistani Digital Media Industry, DMWP aims to increase effective networking between the government and Pakistani youth.

“The Pakistani Youth should never underestimate their skills and set very high goals for themselves,” the PM stated during the event. The obstacles are there to make you stronger, not to discourage you. Pick goals that are bigger than you and serve a greater purpose. He also expressed joy at the initiative to involve Pakistani youngsters in spreading Pakistan’s storey. He emphasised the value of honesty and added that people who live by it are respected.”

Pakistan has over 100 million internet users, 185 million mobile subscribers, and over 50 million social media users. “Previous governments utilised the state media to push their party narratives,” stated Information Minister Fawad Chauhdry. They didn’t develop state media to promote Pakistan’s interests abroad. This government has worked on enhancing state media since taking office to promote Pakistan’s role as a responsible state in the comity of nations.

DMW has teamed with prominent social media groups and industry experts to deliver interns workshops on YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter. The students will also get a monthly stipend from UNDP.

“UNDP is glad to support the government of Pakistan in this initiative to equip the youth with important digital skills and give young women and men with on-the-job training in government offices,” said UNDP Resident Representative Knut Ostby. This type of professional exposure will help youth’s future employment prospects.”

This initiative intends to equip youngsters to bridge the gap between students, the government, and the digital media business. The first group picked 100 capable interns. They will be placed in federal ministries and agencies for 3 months to work directly with government executives and develop their talents.
