PDM Leaders gather to discuss Long March

Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the leader of the JUI-F, has called an important session of the opposition alliance Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) on January 25 (Tuesday).

At the critical meeting of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), which will be attended by the leaders of the opposition’s constituent parties Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman will serve as the meeting’s chairman. The meeting will take hold at the PML-N Secretariat at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

The conference will be attended by PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, and other top party officials. President of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Sharif and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif will participate in the meeting through video link.


According to reports, the meeting will debate the plan for the PDM long march to Islamabad as well as a joint strategy against the present government, which may include a suggestion to bring about an internal change in the Centre.

The Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), a multi-party opposition group, had declared that it would begin its prolonged march towards Islamabad on March 23.


It had previously been reported that the leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Quaid Nawaz Sharif, had given the go-ahead to his party’s leadership to pursue internal reforms.


According to reliable sources, progress was made during backdoor contacts between the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).

According to reports, following the backdoor contacts, Nawaz Sharif gave his approval to the decision to begin attempts to bring about an internal change within the government.
