PDM anti-govt long march starts on March 23

To protest against inflation in the country, the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) stated on Monday that it would organize a long march against the existing administration in Islamabad on March 23.

Speaking to the media in Chak Shahzad, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the president of PDM, stated that people from all over Pakistan would travel to Islamabad to take part in the demonstration.

He stated that the meeting was attended by the leadership of all political parties affiliated with the PDM.

Fazl claimed that the administration is incompetent and that the population does not support it, and that the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) has decided to stage a march in Islamabad on the topic of inflation.

He stated that a strategy for holding this march would be developed at the provincial level. He stated that gatherings of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) will be convened by Shehbaz Sharif in Punjab, himself in KPK, Mehmood Khan Achakzai in Balochistan, and Shah Ahmad Noorani in Sindh.

“I will personally meet with representatives of the Supreme Court Bar Association and the Pakistan Bar Council in this regard,” he said during a press briefing after the meeting.

He also stated that a significant consultative session with representatives from civil society and other communities would be organized.

“At the PDM meeting, the question of tendering resignations from the assemblies was also brought up for discussion. In terms of when this card should be utilized, we’ll make that decision on our own,” he stated.
