Last month Pakistan cricket board announced the schedule for remaining PSL6 matches. According to that schedule PSL matches were to be played from 1 June to 20 June 2021 in Karachi.
BUT! Due to worsening COVID-19 situation in Karachi, PCB was not allowed to hold remaining PSL6 matches in Karachi by NCOC.
After a comprehensive meeting with all PSL franchise owners, PCB decided to shift remaining matches to UAE.
Although, it was a challenge for PCB to hold matches in UAE due to logistics and visa issues.
Earlier, PCB announced that remaining matches will be played from 5th of June to 20th of June in Abu Dhabi. But due to logistic issues and mandatory 10 days quarantine in Abu Dhabi, it is not possible to hold matches from 5th June.
New PSL schedule:
NOW, PCB has to announce a truncated schedule for remaining matches to complete it before 22 June 2021. Because Pakistan cricket team has to leave for England tour on 22nd of June.
Pakistan team is to report for quarantine period in England because of already scheduled international series against England. Series will start from 8th of July 2021.
Almost all foreign players from South Africa, Australia and New Zealand have arrived in Abu Dhabi for remaining PSL matches.
Although few players from Pakistan including Quetta Gladiator’s captain Sarfraz Ahmed have not reached UAE because of visa and ticket confirmation.
It would be challenging task for PCB to complete the PSL6 matches in 10 or 11 days, because it is impossible to start remaining PSL matches before 9th of June due to mandatory quarantine period.
Pakistan cricket board is likely to announce schedule for remaining matches today or in next two days.
If PCB is unable to hold remaining matches in June, then it will not be possible to arrange remaining PSL 6 matches in 2021 due to international tours.
