Pakistani Markhors Visiting India Via LOC

Located in the Limber area of north Kashmir’s Boniyar district, Kazinag National Park serves as a haven for the Markhor. Located near the Line of Control, it is flanked by coniferous forests that contain deodar trees (LoC).

There are no barriers prohibiting markhorses from approaching this portion of the LoC or crossing to the other side because they are Pakistan’s national animal.

“Because of its geographical distribution and landscape, the animal can also be found in the Pir Panchal range and Kazinag National Park.” It is impossible to define them.

Dr. Reyaz Ahmad, the Wildlife Trust of India’s Coordinator for Kashmir, adds, “They keep coming to this side and migrating to the other side for reproducing,” and

Because of a decrease in poaching over recent years, according to Reyaz, the number of Markhors has increased in the park in recent years. A survey conducted eight years ago found that the figure was 200. Research conducted two years ago found that the figure was 150. ” There is a huge difference, says Reyaz, who has been researching the Markhors in the valley for a while.
