Asad Umar, the director-general of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), announced on Sunday that Pakistan has set the greatest daily coronavirus vaccination records for three consecutive days.
“Three days in a row, the highest daily vaccination records have been set,” Umar tweeted.
“The statewide mobile vaccination campaign, which was designed by the NCOC and is currently being executed with the assistance of provinces, is delivering fantastic results,” said Umar, who also serves as a minister with responsibility for the planning ministry.
“Our goal is to reach out to all residents in order to allow us to finally lift all COVID-19-related restrictions,” Umar continued.
The announcement of the records came at a time when Pakistan experienced a significant decrease in the number of new COVID-19 cases, with only 4,874 people testing positive overnight, according to NCOC data released early Sunday morning, keeping the country’s coronavirus positivity ratio below 10 percent for the fifth consecutive day.
According to the NCOC’s statistics, 56,051 diagnostic tests were completed in the last 24 hours, with 4,874 of them returning positive results. Due to the decrease in the daily COVID-19 case count, the positivity ratio decreased to 8.69 percent and the number of active cases increased to 90,797 in a single day.
The total number of coronavirus cases, on the other hand, increased to 1,459,773.
Meanwhile, the COVID-19 death toll in the country has risen to 29,478 as a result of an additional 30 persons succumbing to the virus in the last 24 hours.
Dr. Faisal Sultan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health, has urged the general public to “stop being sluggish and get your booster shots if they haven’t already” and to “stop being lazy.”
Dr Sultan urged people to get their vaccinations as Pakistan battles the fifth COVID-19 wave, which is being driven by the Omicron.
His previous advice was to acquire their COVID-19 booster doses if it had been more than six months since they had received their second dose of the vaccine.
