Pakistan manufactured 1.21 million Phones just in 2 months

Pakistan’s cell phone assembly witnessed a promising boost this year, manufactured 1.21 million Phones just in 2 months. Cell phone production also increased due to a significant drop in cell phone smuggling during the same period.

According to the statement, the implementation of the 2019 Device Identification, Registration and Blocking System (DIRBS), issued by the Pakistan Telecommunications Office (PTA) on Wednesday, also significantly increased the legal import of mobile devices.

Moreover, PTA also said it helped open more than 33 mobile device assembly plants in Pakistan.

“Since the introduction of DIRBS, these factories have produced more than 25 million mobile devices, including 4G smartphones, “PTA revealed.

“After the successful execution of the system, the local assembly of smartphones has increased significantly, and also the local assembly segment has evolved from the initial stage to the mature stage. “

Given the significant impact of DIRBS, the government has put in place a comprehensive mobile manufacturing policy that also urges international manufacturers to set up factories in the country.

The PTA recently issued a mobile device manufacturing regulation (MDM), emphasizing that a large number of mobile device manufacturing applications have started to flow.

“This initiative will not only help create more jobs in the technology sector but will also allow consumers to buy mobile devices manufactured locally,” PTA said.

Furthermore, It was pointed out that Pakistan has the characteristic of implementing the first open-source, full-scale DIRBS in the world.

Regulators emphasized that DIRBS can also identify and classify all International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) connected to Pakistan’s mobile network according to their compliance status.

Recently, despite the economic pressure from Covid-19, the telecommunications sector has made a significant contribution to Pakistan’s economy, with the country’s treasury share growing 129% in 2020 compared to 2019.
