Pakistan lowers import taxes to attract Afghan business

Increasing bilateral trade over the Torkham border, Pakistan has decreased import duties from Afghanistan.

The authorities approved extending the Afghan-Pakistan Transit Trade Agreement 2010 for six months to promote trade links with the neighbour, according to local media reports.

Both sides reviewed the challenges faced by local traders and transporters in clearing products at the border and provided ideas for removing congestion.

Traders, customs clearing agents, and Frontier Corps officials met at the customs compound to discuss the development.

On the other hand, Afghan customs chief Abdul Hameed and other border officials were there.

On the other hand, officials agreed to increase the number of electronic scanners to speed up the scanning process and eliminate delays in customs processing.
