In the deep sea port of the country, Gwadar, Balochistan Province, Pakistan has finalized the specifics for the construction of a new shipyard.
The initiative aims at stimulating the commercial shipbuilding and repair sector, creating jobs and stimulating economic growth.
The Federal and provincial governments of each nation have declared that the project will take a minimum period of two to three years after a feasibility study has been completed by signing a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), to build a Gwadar shipyard.
According to Zobaida Jalal, the federal Minister for Defense Production, the initiative is founded on Gwadar, which is ‘very important regionally and which is also crucial for the socio-economic growth of Balochistan and the whole country. It “creates jobs for local people” and raises earnings.
