Pakistan has notified the UN of the systematic and gross human rights violations in occupied Kashmir, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
On the occasion of Solidarity Day in Kashmir, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmoud Qureshi wrote a letter to the President of the UN Security Council and the Secretary General of the United Nations.
The foreign minister said changes in the demographic structure of occupied Kashmir in India, land use and fraudulent elections were insignificant given international law.
Qureshi also drew attention to India’s terrorist and subversive activities against Pakistan and recalled the detailed files submitted to the United Nations containing conclusive evidence of active planning, promotion, assistance, support, funding and execution of terrorist activities against Pakistan.
“India’s campaign against India against the defamation of Pakistan, presented internationally in the EU’s DisinfoLab report, has also come to the attention of the Security Council,” the statement said.
The Foreign Minister’s letter indicates that the recent release of a transcript in the Indian media has further justified the orchestration of false flag operations and acts of self-defense for domestic and election victories.
He highlighted a worrying incident in December 2020 with a vehicle shooting clearly marked by the United Nations Military Observer Group on India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) in India, which threatened the security of UN peacekeeping forces and obstructed their mandate.
Foreign Minister Qureshi urged the UN Security Council to urge India to:
Immediately lift the ongoing military siege and stop illegal and unilateral actions in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Remove restrictions on communication, movement and peaceful gatherings;
Immediately release Kashmiri political leaders who are imprisoned and allow them to express the wishes of the Kashmiri people.
Release of all Kashmiri people who are arbitrarily and illegally detained;
Freeze and reverse new residence and property laws to change the demographic structure of occupied territories;
Abolishing draconian laws that allow Indian occupation forces to continue violating human rights with impunity, including extrajudicial killings at sham gatherings; and
Provide UN observers, international human rights and humanitarian organizations, international observers and media access to occupied territories.
“The minister’s letter of foreign affairs is part of Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to inform the UN Security Council and the Secretary-General about the difficult situation in [occupied Jammu and Kashmir] and the associated threats to peace and security in the region,” he added.
