On Friday, August 13th, the first ever shipment of 4G cellphones “Made in Pakistan” was sent to the UAE.
‘Inovi Telecom just sent 5,500’s “Made in Pakistan” for the first time to the Middle East,’ tweeted Saturday’s Advisor Abdul Razzak Dawood to the Pakistani Prime Minister for Commerce and Investment.
“This also signals the start of the diversification of products from our conventional exports. I urge other mobile firms in Pakistan to follow suit and export their goods aggressively,” he said.
The Pakistan Telecommunications Authority was grateful to Inovi Telecom. “This is the result of concerted efforts to develop the country’s mobile device production system.”
On 9 April 2021, PTA authorised the firm to manufacture mobile phones and started to export mobile telephones produced in Pakistan in a space of four months.
According to PTA, the local production system was unappealing. Now, though, the situation has changed.
Pakistan has an expected total of 34 million phones for the annual market size. 20 million of them are 2G and just 14 million are jointly 3G and 4G.
In line with the Telecom Authority’s 2021 Mobile Device Manufacturing (MDM) Regulations, the government implemented a comprehensive, supporting Mobile Manufacturing Policy, which was followed by the PTA.
