Pakistan rejected the Afghan Foreign Ministry‘s claim that the TTP, an illegal military group, was not active in Afghanistan.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Zahid Hafeez Chaudhry said in a statement that the Afghan side’s accusations contradict the facts on the ground and various UN reports which also confirm the presence and activities of more than 5,000 troops in Afghanistan.
In recent years, TTP has launched several malicious terrorist attacks in Pakistan, using Afghan soil without retaliation from the host.
The 12th report by a UN observer team, released in June 2021, acknowledged the TTP’s “strong anti-Pakistan aims” and indicated its location in Afghanistan “near the border with Pakistan”.
The TTP after their reunification with their fragmented groups with the help of enemy intelligence services (HIA), their continued unpunished presence in Afghanistan and cross-border attacks in Pakistan pose a lasting threat to our security and stability.

Pakistan continues to emphasize the need for meaningful engagement with the Afghan side to address security and terrorism issues through the effective use of the Afghanistan-Pakistan Action Plan for Peace and Solidarity (APPPS).
“Pakistan is making serious and sincere efforts to facilitate Afghanistan’s internal peace process for an inclusive political solution. We hope Afghanistan will use this opportunity to achieve lasting peace and stability in Afghanistan,” the FO said in a statement.
