The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) rejected a proposal from the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB), suggesting that the upcoming Pak Afghan ODI cricket series be played at two different venues. Both boards needs to play cricket at one location in light of the 2023 World Cup qualifiers.
Pak Afghan Cricket series are expecting to play three ODI matches in Sri Lanka in the first week of September. The Pakistan national cricket team returned from the Caribbean at the end of August.
“We explained to the ACB that the members of the national team have only 10 days between the travelers. They prepare to receive the kiwis which have scheduled in Pakistan on September 11 before matches. In this scenario it will be difficult for the team members to continue traveling from city to city. We suggest choosing a single location for the series. Further, ACB will put the finishing touches on the draw plans from Pakistan,” said the PCB official.
He noted that it is not easy to organize a cricket series on foreign soil these days due to coronavirus pandemic. However, a PCB spokesman said the board wanted to fulfill its international commitments on behalf of overseas fans.
“We see no reason why the series is not continuing as planned. The final schedule of the series will most likely be with us in the next few days,” he concluded.
