Opposition parties in Sindh will organize a protest today against the province’s controversial local government system and delimitation, which are now under review.
It has been concluded, according to reliable sources, the preparations for the protest were organized by the MQM-P at Fawara Chowk.
The protest march will be attended by the leaders of Sindh’s opposition parties, including the PTI and the GDA. The event will feature speeches by Ali Zaidi, Sardar Abdul Rahim, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, and other leaders of opposition political groups.
During the demonstration, a unified resolution against the Sindh Local Government (Amendment) Act will be delivered as well.

According to sources, the opposition parties will also outline their protest options, which may include a march to the chief minister’s residence, during the event.
According to reliable sources, the MQM-P has provided its staff with a plan for protesting against the law.
A separate protest was organized in front of the Sindh Assembly by Jamaat-e-Islami, which was protesting the Sindh Local Government (Amendment) Act.
In addition, the Jamaat-e-Islami has filed a lawsuit against the local government law in the Sindh High Court (SHC). The petition was filed by Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, the chairman of the JI Karachi.
As a result of this decision, the high court has directed the People’s Party-led Sindh government to submit its response during the next hearing in this case.
It was claimed by the petitioner that the bill — which was enacted on December 11, 2021 — was “illegal and violated Article 140A of the Constitution.”
In his appeal, Hafiz Naeem pleaded with the Supreme Court of Pakistan to declare the new modifications to the bill unconstitutional and null and void.
