Pakistan has registered 1,980 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the confirmed infection count to 978,847.
According to the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), another 24 people succumbed to the disease during this period, bringing the death toll to 22,642.

A total of 47,472 tests were performed in the last 24 hours, of which 1,980 patients were positive. The positivity rate for infections was registered at 4.17%.
Previously, the Sindh Department of Health confirmed that 35 cases of the Delta variant, a highly infectious strain of COVID-19 that was first detected in India, have been reported in Karachi.
35 cases of the Delta variant were detected in samples collected from 25 June to 9 July.
