One of Pakistan’s most prominent internet service provider Nayatel filed petition against the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) for allegedly discriminating against it when it came to starting its service in Azad Kashmir.
Justice Aamer Farooq heard Nayatel’s plea on Friday. When the PTA began its attempts to deliver fibre internet services in AJK, the petitioner claimed it has treated unfairly.
Commercial telecom services have provided by the SCO. It is a government-owned organisation under the administrative jurisdiction of the Ministry of IT and Telecom.
Nayatel argued that PTA is discriminating against the company since it entered the AJK’s fibre broadband in court petition. It is delaying licence applications for more than 270 days when a new licence must issue within 120 days.
It has also brought up that the SCO should give access to free wireless spectrum for cellular mobile services. The PTA, Cabinet Division and the ministry all received notifications from Justice Aamer Farooq.
Moreover, PTA Chairman has accused of having a conflict of interest due to his tenure as SCO director general for two years before to his retirement and admission as PTA chairman by the previous administration in January 2019.
