The federal government appointed Muhammad Tariq Malik as head of the National Database and Registration Authority on Monday (NADRA).
According to a Ministry of Interior statement, he has been named NADRA’s new director for a three-year tenure.
“The Competent Authority has been pleased to appoint Mr. Muhammad Tariq Malik as Chairman, NADRA, for a term of three years in terms of Section 3 (5) of the NADRA Ordinance, 2000, with immediate effect and until further orders, in exercise of powers conferred under section 3 (3) of the National Database and Registration Authority Ordinance, 2000.” read the notification.
Briefing the media on the federal cabinet’s choices, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said the cabinet approved the Ministry of Interior’s report on the appointment.
“I am thankful to the Prime Minister for reposing his faith in me, and organising an open and highly competitive selection process,” Tariq Malik wrote on Twitter after the cabinet approved his nomination as NADRA chairman.
