The National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Lahore, summoned a top federal bureaucrat, Barrister Nabeel Awan, on September 30 at 11:00 a.m. to testify in an assets exceeding income case, the bureau announced.
The bureaucrat has also been requested to bring with him a detailed record of the land registered in his father’s name in the Bhai Kot district of the province capital, which has been explicitly requested.
There were rumours that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was conducting a forensic audit of Nabeel Awan’s assets, including an audit of the land registry, which the accused said it received as an inheritance.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had earlier requested records from financial and real estate regulatory institutions, including the deputy commissioners of Lahore and Faisalabad, the LDA, the FDA, and the Punjab Cooperatives Department, in order to scrutinise the assets of Nabeel Awan and his family. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) also requested information of assets owned by Nabeel Awan’s father, mother, wife, daughter, and sons.
