National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal has tested positive for Covid-19. Due to it, he skipped another meeting of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).
Following a positive test for the illness, Justice retd Javed Iqbal will not be attending the meeting, according to sources. The NAB officials have communicated this to the PAC secretariat via a letter.
The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) had already agreed to submit a letter to the Chairman of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal, in order to call him to the committee’s hearings.
PAC chairman Rana Tanveer Hussain said that Justice (retd) Jave Iqbal should have appeared before the meeting if the chairman of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had not skipped it today.
As a result of the absence of Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal, the meeting had to be postponed. He also stated that the PAC had been called into an in-camera session at the request of the chairman.

It was communicated to him in the morning that the Chairman of the NAB would not be attending the meeting, he explained. “The Director-General of the National Accountability Bureau briefed the meeting today and requested that it be held in private meeting due to the sensitivity of the information he delivered,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Director-General of the National Accountability Bureau (DG NAB) presented a letter to the PAC indicating consent from Prime Minister Imran Khan about the representation of Chairman NAB by his director-general.
However, Noor Alam, a member of the committee, stated that if the consent had been granted by the prime minister, it should have been communicated through cabinet division rather than coming directly from a NAB officer.
