Punjab Education Minister Murad Raas said on Friday he wanted to bring back school dropouts.
The Minister of Education met with staff from the Ministry of Education to discuss initiatives to encourage school enrollment.
“He met executives and principals from 18 districts regarding school enrollment. All the details are shared down to the Markaz level. We will return our children to school, InsyaAllah, ”he said.
On Monday, Raas started a school enrollment movement with a special focus on students who dropped out of school twice during lengthy school closures following the COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking at a press conference, the minister said that school authorities did not include teacher teachers in the enrollment program, but would cooperate with local communities to send their children to schools that dropped out of school during recent closings or dropped out of school. Dr. Raas said enrollments continued throughout the year and the department had set a goal of bringing one million children back to public schools.
He said there were 120,000 private and public schools in Punjab and the department did not have field workers to supervise each school, adding that it could be done with support from the media and the public.
