NDMA Chairman of General Akhter Nawaz Satti stated on Thursday that six people were killed, nine injured and hundreds homeless when monsoon rains hit Gilgit-Baltistan last week.
“This year, harmful fields and infrastructure have been repaired 88% more than usual in the region,” he disclosed. Gilgit-Baltistan concluded with the third monsoon period on August 3.
So far, approximately 25 families have been saved by the National Disaster Management Authority. In several sections of the region, the rain has washed buildings and bridges away.
On Thursday, the Authority notified the people that it would distribute 1,000 ration bags, 100 sleeper bags and 50 campers.
