Millie Bobby Brown is Netflix’s most sought-after actress after Stranger Things and Enola Holmes. She will star in Damsel.
According to what’s on Netflix, Damsel will flip the traditional “damsel in distress” narrative, with the heroine fighting the dragon herself.
Oscar-nominated director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo will helm the film. Dan Mazeau, who wrote Wrath of the Titans, wrote the script.
Roth Kirschenbaum Films will produce with a $60-$70 million budget. Millie Bobby Brown plays the lead. The 18-year-old actress will co-produce with Mazeau, Zack Roth, and Chris Castaldi.
Brown will play Elodie, whose father gives her money to marry Prince Henrey, but she ends up being tricked into becoming a dragon sacrifice.
Angela Bassett, Robin Wright, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Nick Robinson, Ray Winstone, Brooke Carter, Mens-Sana Tamakloe, Sonya Nisa, and Rui M. Tomas co-star.
Evelyn Skye will release a novel based on the script on March 14, 2023. Damsel began production in London in February 2022, but its release isn’t until 2023.
