According to CES authorities, the event will still take place in person. When Microsoft made its announcement on Friday that it would not be attending the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas in 2022. It joined a growing number of companies that have decided not to participate in person due to the rapid spread of a variant of the Omicron COVID-19.
As part of its continued participation at CES 2022, the US software behemoth stated in an email that it will continue to participate remotely. The Verge was the first to disclose on Friday that Microsoft will not be present in person at the Consumer Electronics Show.
More than a dozen other companies, including the US automaker General Motors, Alphabet’s Google and its self-driving car technology company Waymo, Facebook parent Meta Platforms, Twitter, Lenovo, AT&T, and Amazon.com, announced earlier this week that they would not be attending the conference in person.
Officials from the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) confirmed on Thursday that the event will still take place in person from January 5-8, with “strong safety precautions in place,” including vaccine requirements, masking, and the availability of COVID-19 tests.
