Microsoft Bing a search engine suspends feature of auto suggested in China on the behalf of Government order for 30 days. Microsoft’s Bing, the only major international search engine available in China, says it had been compelled by a “relevant government agency” to halt its auto recommend feature in China for 30 days.
“Bing is a global search platform and is dedicated to upholding the rule of law and users’ freedom to access information,” Bing wrote on its Chinese search site on Friday. It did not disclose grounds for the suspension.
Internet firms in China have been battered over the past year by a government crackdown that has placed further limitations on areas from content to consumer privacy. The Chinese government has also declared it wants platforms to more aggressively promote key communist ideals.
In October, Microsoft Bing stated it will shut down its professional social networking site LinkedIn in China, citing “a substantially more demanding operating environment and stricter compliance requirements” in the nation.
