Michelle Yeoh Aims to Support Filmmaking Talent in Malaysia After Oscar Triumph

Asia’s first Oscar-winning actress, Michelle Yeoh, hopes to create more opportunities for filmmakers in her native Malaysia.

Yeoh, who won the Academy Award for her role in “Everything Everywhere All at Once”, spoke at a news conference before a fan event, stating that she wants to work with heads of studios in Malaysia to create platforms that will showcase local talent. Yeoh also took the time to pose for pictures with her Oscar statuette in front of a sign that said “pride of Malaysia”.

With a Hollywood breakthrough in the 1997 James Bond film “Tomorrow Never Dies”, Yeoh has also starred in popular movies like “Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon”, “Memoirs of a Geisha”, and “Crazy Rich Asians”. This is Yeoh’s first Oscar nomination and win.
