Michelle Dockery will star in Peaky Blinders director Steven Knight’s BBC miniseries This Town. Birmingham-based Steven Knight will run this town.
He’s cast Michelle Dockery (Downtown Abbey), Nicholas Pinnock (Marcella), and David Dawson (My Policeman).
Deadline reported on November 24 that the movie was previously titled “Two Tone” and follows the narrative of an extended family enthralled by ska and two-tone music, which grew in Coventry and Birmingham in the late 1970s and early 1980s, connecting black, white, and Asian adolescents.
Knight remarked, “This is a project very important to my heart.”
adding, “It’s set in a period I remember well and has characters I grew up with.” “It’s a love letter to Birmingham and Coventry, but I think everyone can connect.”
With Karen Wilson, Martin Haines, Katie McAleese, Jo McLellan, Laura Conway, Matthew James Wilkinson, and Nick Angel, Knight will create, write, and be an executive producer for the movie.
Charlotte Surtees will produce and direct the 20th-century film.
