KARACHI: Superstar Mahira Khan could easily provide the material and depth she needs in her current career. A role in ‘Noori’ that is different from her previous character which directed by Ehteshamudin of famed Sadkay Tumhare.
With the release of the second song from the upcoming film, entitled Noori, the star channeled Madhuri Dixit’s mind.
The song begins with the look of Mahira Khan killer on a bicycle frame. With the bright orange and blue Ghagra Choli colors, Mahira changes as Noori to the beat of the song sung by Sunidhi Chauhan and Jabar Abbas. The lyrics by Shakeel Sohail speak to her character, with music by Azaan Sami Khan.
The choreography appears to be inspired by Madhuri Ghagra’s popular dance number from the 2013 Bollywood film Ye Jawaani Hai Deewani. The words, the wardrobe, the rhythm, and the way the cameras captured Mahira as she danced among the crowd of backup dancers were all so familiar. Is it imitation or inspiration? We leave it to you.
Noori also plays Osman Khalid Butt in the cameo she reminds Ranbir Kapoor’s audience in Gagra. Actor of Baaji is an accomplished dancer and proves it in this edition. If nothing else, it gave Mahira the opportunity to go out hunting for money.
The film features an outstanding cast with Bilal Ashraf hosting the show with Mahira. Nadeem Baig, Javed Sheikh, Marina Khan, Asma Abbas, Saife Hassan, Alizay Shah and Ali Kazmi also starred in Superstar with special appearances by Only Amir and Saira Shahroz.
