US former President Donald Trump was declaring himself the dominant person in the fragmented America’s Republican Party on Sunday. He was also attacking President Joe Biden in his first major appearance since leaving the White House nearly six weeks ago.

“Today I stand before you to say that the incredible journey we started together four years ago is far from over,” Trump said at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Orlando.

“We gathered this afternoon to discuss the future. The future of our movement, the future of our party and the future of our beloved country,” he added.

During the turbulent weeks in the Trump administration, his supporters launched a deadly assault on the Capital on January 6. It is to prevent Congress from witnessing Biden’s victory. The victory that Trump claimed was wrongly undermined by widespread deception.

Civil war broke out within the Republican Party. Figures like the Senate minority, Mitch McConnell, wanted Trump in the rear view mirror. Others such as Senator Lindsey believing that the party’s future hinged on the energy of the Trump’s base pro-conservative party.

Republicans are united

“Republicans are united. The only division is between a handful of political hacks in Washington and everyone across the country,” Trump said.

Trump’s jealousy during the four days of the CPAC event was so great. Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr. declared it “T-PAC” and attendees displayed a gold statue of the former president.

According to advisers, Trump will return to discussing a private candidacy for president in 2024, but excerpts from his speech do not show what he can do.

“This will be the decision he will make on his way,” Rona McDaniel, chair of the Republican National Committee.

In the short term, he plans to form a political organization, SuperPAC, to support candidates who reflect his policies, the adviser said.

Major critic of Joe Biden

Trump’s speech will include attacks on Biden to try to position himself as a major critic of president. Including immigration and security on the US border with Mexico, and the slow resumption of schools closed due to the pandemic.

“We all knew the Biden administration was going to get worse. But none of us imagined how bad it would be or how far it would go,” Trump said. “Joe Biden had the most disastrous first month of a president in modern history.”

The Biden White House has announced that it will ignore Trump’s speech.

“Our focus is definitely not on what President Trump said at CPAC,” White House spokesman Jen Psaki told reporters last week.
