Strike in Balochistan over ANP leader’s murdering

Strikes broke out in the provincial capital and several other provincial cities on Sunday to protest the killing of the Awami National Party’s (ANP) Information Secretary Awami Assad Khan Achakai.

All business centers and shops in Quetta, Chaman, Loralai, Schob, Qila Saifullah, Sibi, Qila Abdullah, Pischin, Ziarat, Harnai, Mastung, and several others areas in the province remain closed and road traffic remains due to weak strike demand.

Mr. Achakzai disappeared on September 25 last year when he came to Quetta from Chaman to attend a party conference.

His mutilated, bullet-riddled body was found Saturday when police arrested a member of Lewis’s Force confessing to the murder and identified the location where he had stored his body.

Meanwhile, in his village near Chaman, Pak Achakzai’s funeral prayers were held under heavy guard, and then he was buried there.

A large number of people and central and provincial ANP leaders attended the funeral prayers.

A heavy contingent of police, Levie’s Force, ATF and Frontier Crops are stationed in the area to prevent any unpleasant incidents.
