PTA gives IoT licenses to four new companies

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is now giving out IoT licenses for new companies to use the Internet of Things. The telecom regulator has added four new IoT licensees to its website.

In particular, Noby Solutions (Private) LTD, IoT Technologies (SMC-Private) LTD, LCC Pakistan (Private) LTD. PTA has given Internet of Things licenses to WeatherWalay (Private) LTD. All four companies must renew their permits every five years.

PTA says that it has given licenses to four companies to set up and run an IoT Low-Power Wide-Area Network (LPWAN) to provide LPWAN Services in Pakistan in line with Section 5 of the 1996 Pakistan Telecommunications Act and the PTA Regulatory Framework for SRD & IoT Services. After meeting all of the requirements, all four firms can take the Internet of Things licenses from the governing body.

The PTA requires operators to report all network growth in terms of new or did add Gateways. As well as any other information PTA may request from time to time. Providers of Internet of Things solutions usually use the connectivity offered by existing cellular mobile carriers, so they don’t need to set up a new base station.

But if the operator needs to use the new base station for technical reasons. First, the PTA must register the base station with the Frequency Allocation Board (FAB). The company must get FAB clearance before installing the new Gateways.
