Imran Khan brought the issue of appointment of new Army Chief in the public meetings

Crucial debates have taken place in the past between politicians about the appointment of Pakistan’s new Chief of Army Staff. This is the most noteworthy and important aspect of the entire process. No major debate in this area surfaced inside the Pakistan Army itself, but the most important post did continue to adopt a contentious stance.

It has discussed in both chambers of parliament but members of both parties remembered the constraints. The Prime Minister has the constitutional right of appointment of new Army Chief. This is one of the main (if not the only) reasons why this topic has discussed at all by politicians, political parties and political activists.

Perhaps this is why some in political circles believe the Army should make its own choice of chief of staff. It is an internal matter of the Army like any other institution. Additionally, Khawaja Muhammad Asif has put out a proposition.

This is the first time the contentious and imprudent selection of the country’s Army leader has discussed in public. Anyone who has addressed this issue in the meeting thus far has likely remarked that the appointment is not base on merit.

Imran Khan made these claims at a public meeting on Sunday. He harshly lambasted Mian Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari for not recognising their demand for early elections. He expressed concern about having elections.

Then, Imran Khan claimed that he knew the two men are attempting to put in their preferred candidate for army commander because a new head will select in November.
