The Pakistan Cricket Board is hopeful that pace spearhead Shaheen Afridi will be able to play in the Twenty20 World Cup in Australia. Therefore, Shaheen Shah Afridi has travelled to London to continue his treatment of knee injury.
Afridi is a left-handed fast bowler who has included in the preliminary team by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). He has forced to withdraw from the Asia Cup because of an injury he sustained the previous month in Sri Lanka. The tournament is now taking place in the United Arab Emirates.
Shaheen Afridi requires uninterrupted, dedicated knee injury treatment. Whereas, London offers some of the best sports medical and rehabilitation facilities in the world. The chief medical officer for the PCB stated Afridi’s injury conditions in a statement.
The medical department will get regular updates on his recovery. They are certain that Shaheen will make a full recovery in time for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. However, a medical panel will decide when the he will be able to return to competitive cricket.
Former champion Pakistan will take on their fiercest rival India in its opening match of the Twenty20 World Cup. It will take place on October 23 in Melbourne.
