Pakistan Govt aims to finish Digital Census Before the 2023 elections

Before the upcoming elections in 2023, Pakistan will do a digital census. Despite the fact that it has to insert many times. The event may take place by the end of the year or at the beginning of 2023.

According to Business Recorder, government insiders claim that the census is also complete by 2023. Just in time to avoid disrupting the 2020 presidential election. During a meeting at P-Block Secretariat on Monday, Federal Minister for Planning, and Development. Projects Ahsan Iqbal told the PBS to prepare for a digital census in Pakistan.

Pakistan Digital census pilots took place from July 20 to August 3, 2022. In 417 census blocks in 83 Tehsils in four provinces, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), and Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B).

Minister Ahsan Iqbal made the following statement:

Depending on how the census turns out in 2022, the next general election is in 2023. We are already on thin ice, and any more delays may cause constitutional problems.

The PBS chief statistician told the minister there are no major problems with the digital pilot census and that any problems found are always right before the full rollout. He also said that PBS is working with NADRA, NTC, and SUPARCO to make sure a smooth census.

Also, he said that staff members only continue to do the pilot census after they get the right training and tablets.

We don’t know if the next digital census will occur at the end of this year or at the beginning of next year because we lack a clear schedule. As of right now, all we know is that the minister has told PBS to move quickly so that the census is sometimes taken as soon as possible.
