During the 9th and 10th of Moharram, some cities’ mobile networks will shut down. Sources have told ProPakistani that there will be no cell phone service in tier 1, or tier 2. Sometimes even tier 3 cities for the entire ninth and tenth days of Moharram.
Tier 1 cities have things like the capitals of provinces, while Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities get smaller.
Cell phone services are always slashing off in numerous cities on Ashura, but we can’t say more. Mobile phone networks shut down as early as 5 a.m. and last until 11 p.m.
Several major cities in Balochistan are still without electricity during that time, according to sources. At a meeting on Friday, everyone agrees on it. Mir Ziaullah Langove, who is the Chief Minister’s Advisor on Home and Tribal Affairs, was in charge of the meeting.
For Muharram, there are more than 20,000 security officers walking around the province, and both the provincial and district levels have set up control rooms to keep an eye on things. Balochistan has banned the use of pillion riders from August 6 to August 16.
The schedule of power outages is subject to change if there is a collapse in law and order or if there is a shift in the timing of the Ashura processions in each city. Customers also are advised to prepare alternative plans in the event of an emergency as a result of the disruption in cell phone service.
