Two local businesses can get LDI licenses from PTA

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has given Long Distance International (LDI) licenses to two more businesses as part of the ongoing process of deregulation in the telecoms market.

PTA sources say that an LDI license is first agreed to give to both Dynasty Telecom Private Limited and HG Telecom Pvt. ltd. PTA made LDI licenses available to businesses after they paid a $500,000 license fee. And also took the other steps needed to get them.

Both companies are sending bank guarantees totaling $10 million for the installation of a 1,500-kilometer optical fiber line. Companies always offer LDI licenses following the presentation of bank guarantees.

According to the sources, none of the companies is required to acquire approval. Because it is a local business registered with Pakistan’s Securities and Exchange Commission (SECP). Companies with in other countries directors who live in other countries must get permission from the Ministry of the Interior.

After the LDI license is first chosen to give by the country’s two private companies, customers will be able to plan phone services. With the addition of the two new businesses, the total number of LDI operators will be 19. There are now 17 LDI operators in Pakistan. Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) and the National Telecom Corporation are two of the most important (NTC).

June 14, 2022, Cyber Internet Service Private Limited became the first company to get an LDI license from the PTA. After a preliminary period of waiting for eight years.
