You will have to wait until 2019 if you don’t want to see Facebook and Instagram posts from accounts you don’t follow.
Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, says that the amount of recommended content will have tripled by 2023. He thought that these kinds of recommendations made up about 15% of the posts on Facebook and a lot more on Instagram.
Zuckerberg has called the effort the “Discovery Engine.” In the past, Facebook and Instagram focused on posts from a user’s friends on their social graph. TikTok plans to compete with this change by using AI to serve videos from all over the internet. Because TikTok used this method, there is now a new creator economy.
During Meta’s earnings call for the second quarter on Wednesday, Zuckerberg said, “As Al finds more interesting things, it makes our feeds better.” Meta will use artificial intelligence (AI) to recommend links and photos that have been posted publicly on its service. He talked about how TikTok focuses on short videos. “I don’t think people want only one format.”
In 2018, Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Facebook, said that the News Feed should focus on “meaningful social connections.” Zuckerberg thought that if people spent less time on Facebook, they would also be happier.
He said that keeping in touch with loved ones through social media can be good for our mental health. Reading or watching entertaining or informative articles or videos on autopilot might not be as helpful as doing the activity yourself.
Zuckerberg seems to be rebuilding the feed now that Meta’s business is falling apart and Facebook’s users are getting older. He said that as of Wednesday, people were switching from public channels to private ones.
Most users don’t leave comments on feeds. Instead, they find interesting information and send it as a message to their contacts.
