Pakistan made over 14 million mobile phones in the first six months of 2022

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority says that in the first half of 2022, from January to June, 14.08 million mobile phones were made or put together in Pakistan. Compared to 1.14 million commercially imported handsets (PTA).

In June 2022, factories in the area made and also put together a total of 1.67 million mobile devices.

Out of the 14.08 million mobile phones made or put together in the country, 8 million are 2G phones and 6 million are smartphones. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) says that 54% of mobile devices in Pakistan are smartphones and that 46% are also 2G mobile phones.

By 2020, local factories would have made or put together 13.05 million mobile phones. Local factories made 24.66 million cell phones in 2021, which was an increase of 13.5% from the year before.

In 2021, commercial mobile device imports fell to 10,26 million from 24,51 million, according to official PTA estimates. We can be sure that this number has gone down a lot.

Pakistan imported $1.978 billion worth of mobile phones in 2021-22, even though it made more of them at home. This is according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) (PBS).

From July to June of the fiscal year 2021-22 to July to June of the previous fiscal year. The value of the country’s imports of telecommunications equipment went from $2.593 billion to $2.684 billion.

The number of mobile phones that Pakistan imported fell by 76.52 percent between May and June of 2022. In June of that year, the total amount of mobile phones that Pakistan imported was $32.221 million. In May of that year, Pakistan imported $137.213 million worth of mobile phones.
