Anthony Weiner raved about ex-wife Huma Abedin on Saturday, saying he wanted her to be “happy” He evaded queries about her dating Bradley Cooper.
“I love her deeply and want her to be happy, and I’m delighted if she is,” said the scandal-plagued ex-congressman on WABC-AM.
Curtis Sliwa prodded Weiner until he responded. The Guardian Angels founder joked about the New York Post’s front page Wednesday, which had Weiner looking over Cooper’s shoulder and Abedin to the side.
Weiner had urgently tried to distract news of his ex’s sizzling new romance by pushing her best-selling memoir “Both/And: A Life in Many Worlds”
The ex-congressman said he hoped “someone handsome” will play him on TV.
Sliwa claimed this could be Paul Reubens’ comeback after being arrested for exposing himself in a cinema theater.
Weiner joked about a famous hookup. “We end at 4 p.m. He said, “Lady Gaga picked me up.”
Earlier, he joked that Mayor Eric Adams could be onto something with his “hidden” Pearl Street headquarters.
“I need a covert hideout” he remarked. Vogue editor Anna Wintour introduced Abedin to the 47-year-old Oscar-nominated actor, Page Six reported.
Reports about Abedin’s new love interest surfaced two weeks after Weiner, 57, announced his return to Twitter, the site that led to his political demise a decade ago.
Abedin filed for divorce from Weiner in 2017 after he was jailed for sexting with a 15-year-old North Carolina girl.
Abedin split with Weiner after he texted a lady a crotch photo while resting close to his son in 2016.
After resigning from Congress, the humiliated politician acknowledged to sexting at least three women.
