According to earlier reports, the actor died of natural causes in his Kilpauk Garden Road apartment. Officer: Kilpauk Police will investigate further.

Pothen performed in over 100 Tamil, Malayalam, and Telugu films and directed a few hits.
The veteran actor-director was recognized for his unusual line delivery. He acted in Tamil and Malayalam movies with prominent performers, including Kamal Haasan in K Balachander’s Varumaiyin Niram Sivappu.
Pothen directed the Haasan hit Vetri Vizha.
His Tamil films include Meendum Oru Kathal Kathai, Moodupani (directed by Balu Mahendra), and Panneer Pushpangal.
Malayalam celebrity Prithivraj Sukumaran mourned the actor’s death. Kamal Hassan stated Prathap Pothen enjoyed serious books and art-house films.
“I saw him direct fast-paced flicks in ‘Vetrivizha.'” The actor expressed sympathies.
