A historic judgment was handed down on Thursday by the Lahore High Court (LHC), which ordered a recount of the votes cast in the election of Hamza Shahbaz as chief minister of Punjab.
The high court’s larger bench, which consists of five judges and is presided over by Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan, has decided to hear petitions against the current chief minister, who is a member of the PML-N.
On April 16, the bench issued its decision in the matter 4-1, dismissing one of the petitions that contested Hamza’s election. Justice Sajid Mehmood Sethi voiced disagreement against the decision reached by the court’s majority.
