The Disney’s blockbuster film ‘Jurassic World Dominion‘ has predicted to bring in at least $70 million throughout the weekend. There was a lack of interest in a Buzz Lightyear origin tale that had only a tenuous relationship to the four films in the famous family franchise. This was one of the few Pixar films that didn’t open at number one in the United States.
With gross receipts of $34.6 million from 43 countries, ‘Lightyear’ has already earned an impressive $85.6 million. Some countries, particularly Saudi Arabia and the UAE have banned the film because of scenes depicting sexually explicit conduct.
After ‘Onward’ in March 2020, ‘Lightyear’ is the first Pixar movie to release on the big screen in over two years. Box office experts are wondering if customers have educated to see Pixar films at home after three of the studio’s films.
There are concerns that Disney focuses too much attention on brand awareness and not enough emphasis on performance. In fact, the picture garnered a “A-” CinemaScore and a 77% Rotten Tomatoes rating. It indicates that it was not a flop. This weekend, Disney was expecting that more people will tempted to go see ‘Lightyear’ in theatres.
Disney’s film ‘Jurassic World Dominion’ reclaimed the top spot at the box office despite a 60% reduction in ticket sales. Universal’s prehistoric sequel made $58.6 million in its second weekend of release from 4,697 theatres, bringing its domestic total to $259 million.
