During a panel discussion, Al Pacino recently discussed how he came close to losing his job on The Godfather. The veteran actor recalls that there were several instances in which they threatened to fire them.
Al Pacino confesses that Coppola saved his character by redoing a pivotal sequence in which Michael murders Virgil Sollozzo and Officer McCluskey in a restaurant. The original scenario included Michael murdering both of these characters.
According to reports, Al Pacino has quoted as saying, “They were going to let me go. Francis expressed his faith in the listener by saying, I want you to know, I believe in you. That situation hs moved along by Francis’s actions. It was well received by the studio.”
On the other hand, Al Pacino legendary film The Godfather has first released several decades ago. It is difficult to picture another actor portraying the role of the charmingly shy Corleone son who must resort to crime in order to rescue his family.
Because to Pacino’s performance as Michael, his position in the annals of Hollywood history will never shake. The Godfather has widely recognised as one of the finest movies that have ever made. This reputation does not look to be going away anytime soon.
