The General Secretariat (GS) of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has issued a strong condemnation and denouncement in response to the recent blasphemy of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him) by an official of BJP leader.
The Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) General Secretariat issued a statement in which it stated, “These acts of defamation are part of a growing spate of hatred and defamation of Islam in India and systematic activities against Indian Muslims.”
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) mentioned India’s series of decisions, one of which was to prohibit the use of the hijab in educational institutions in some Indian states. Other decisions, such as the destruction of Muslims’ properties and the increase in violence against them, were also mentioned.
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) issued a call to the authorities in India, demanding that they take decisive action to address these incidents of defamation and all forms of insult to the Noble Prophet and Islam, as well as to bring those who incite and perpetrate violence against Muslims to justice and hold those who are behind them accountable.
In addition, it urged the Indian government to defend the rights, religious and cultural identity, dignity, and places of worship of India’s Muslim population, as well as to safeguard the safety, security, and well-being of India’s Muslims.
The General Secretariat issued a plea to the international community, specifically the mechanisms of the United Nations and the special measures of the Human Rights Council, to take the required steps to combat the practices that are discriminating against Muslims in India.
